William Ironmonger, first child of Samuell Iremonger and Bridgett Cordray Iremonger, was born in England and migrated to Virginia in 1651, becoming a landowner in the Virginia Colony. On December 12, 1663, he purchased 700 acres in Lancaster County upon the head of the eastermost branch of Corrotoman River. On June 3, 1664, he purchased 350 acres in Gloster County on a branch of the Ware River called Beech Swamp.
Ancestors: William Ironmonger's ancestry goes back to at least two Kings of England, Edward I and Edward III and to the signers of the Magna Charta.
Descendants: William Ironmonger's granddaughter Susannah Cooke married Henry Fitzhugh, son of William (The Immigrant) Fitzhugh.
