JAN ELTEN (b. 1632)
 
Ancestry:  Jan was born in Holland at Swichsaelen in the province of Drenthe.  He was the son of Roelif and Aaltje Elten.  The earliest date of record for his presence in America was in September 1675.   He signed a treaty made by Paltz Huguenots (New York) and indians in the spring of 1677.

Descendants:  include intermarriages with the Dubois, Hite (Heydt), Schlecht, and Van Meteren families.
