LOUIS DUBOIS
(1626-1693)
Louis was born at Lille, parish church of Wicres, France and died at Kingston, New York. He was married at Mannheim, Germany on 10 October 1655. He and his wife apparently immigrated with his sister and brother in law (Pierre Billiou) from Amsterdam on the ship St. Jan Baptiste in 1661. His wife Catherine and three of their children were taken captive for ransom by Indians on 10 June 1663 but were rescued on 5 September 1663 (Van Meterens were captives as well).
Ancestors: Ancestry goes back several generations in France to Jean DuBois who died in 1507.
Descendants: His great granddaughter Eleanor Eltinge married Isaac Hite, Sr. in 1745. They were the parents of Isaac Hite, Jr., builder of Belle Grove, Virginia.
