MORDECAI COOKE

     Mordecai Cooke came to America at Elizabeth City, probably from Whitefield County, Suffolk, England, in 1639.  He settled in Goucester County Virginia in 1650 and where he lived on 1174 acres called "Mordecai's Mount."  He married Susanna Peasley, widow of Michael Peasley of Pocosin Parish, York County, Virginia in 1648.
 

Ancestors: Some accounts state that Mordecai's father was John Cooke who came to America prior to 1623.

Descendants:  His granddaugher Susannah (1693-1749) married Henry Fitzhugh (1686-1758), son of William (The Immigrant) Fitzhugh.
